# Coconut Streaming Devices Multicoco is a TV Streaming Device Housed in a Colombian Coconut By Joey Haar | Published 2016-10-30 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multicoco References: [thenextweb](http://thenextweb.com/shareables/2016/10/27/connected-coconut/) & [multicoco](http://multicoco.com/) [Chromecast](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/4k-streaming-box) and [Apple TV](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twelve-south-tvtv-for-apple-tv) are excellent options for streaming games, movies, and series onto one's TV screen, but Multicoco is a curious device that fulfills the same function while providing a tiki bar-like atmosphere. That's because Multicoco houses its technology within the husk of a real coconut. Technologically, Multicoco is an Android TV device that essentially provides the same viewing experience as a [Chromecast box](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fire-tv-stick-hd). The real appeal of the device is its unique look, though. Every Multicoco coconut is shipped directly from Maria la Baja, a small rural town in Colombia. The coconuts are hand-picked to ensure that only the finest husks get used. Those coconuts are then fitted with the appropriate ports, circuitry, and wiring by hand as well. Beyond a WiFi connection, this connected coconut also comes with Bluetooth so that users can link up gaming controllers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Connected Coconut Devices:** The trend of integrating technology into everyday objects, like coconuts, provides opportunities for unique and visually appealing products. - **Handcrafted Tech Devices:** The trend of creating technology devices by hand, like Multicoco, allows for personalized and artisanal products. - **Natural Aesthetics in Technology:** The trend of incorporating natural materials and aesthetics into tech devices, such as using coconut husks, offers disruptive innovation opportunities for sustainability-focused products. ### Where This Applies - **Consumer Electronics:** The consumer electronics industry can explore the concept of integrating technology into unconventional objects, like coconuts, to create unique and visually appealing devices. - **Handicraft and Artisanal Goods:** The handicraft and artisanal goods industry can embrace the trend of handcrafting tech devices, like Multicoco, to offer personalized and high-quality products. - **Sustainable Technology:** The sustainable technology industry can utilize natural materials like coconut husks to create eco-friendly tech devices that merge aesthetics with functionality. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Metaverse-Connected Streaming Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metaverse-streaming-device.md) - [Coconut Opener Pouring Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coconut-faucet.md) - [Cubic Streaming Box Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twelve-south-tvtv-for-apple-tv.md) - [Modernized Coconut Water Brands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coconut-water-brand.md) - [Remote-Holding Streaming Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-art-tv-box.md) - [Natural Material Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coconut-shell-solid-wood-lamp.md) - [Functional Coconut Ciders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coconut-cider-drink.md) - [Coconut-Based Dessert Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ice-dream-bowls.md) - [Retrofuturistic Streaming Audio Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-streaming-audio-player.md)
