# Folding Multi-Leaf Tables Juan Pablo Quintero's Table Design Integrates Flaps to Maximize Space By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2014-09-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multi-leaf-table References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/gironde-extendible-table-mediodesign/) & [mediodesign.es](http://www.mediodesign.es/2013/12/gironde-table/) This [multi-leaf table design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magnolia-extendable-dining-table) by architect Juan Pablo Quintero was put together as a custom unit for Mediodesign, putting an emphasis on geometry. Tables with more than one leaf are not totally uncommon, but the placement of the [folding surfaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/florin-court-flat) is what sets this table apart from the rest. The Gironde Extendible Table can be folded upon itself, so that the surface of the table and all of its legs are neatly tucked against one another, which would make packing and transporting this furniture piece a breeze. When it's standing, the table has a square shape that can be expanded with up to four additional flaps. The [space-saving table design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-cafe-table) is a brilliant one for gatherings, since it is flexible enough to adapt its shape to suit the needs of a room. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Space-saving Furniture:** Opportunities for innovating furniture that can be easily folded and transported which can save space. - **Modular Table Design:** Opportunities for innovating modular tables that can be adjusted to fit different spaces and occasions. - **Flexible Furniture:** Opportunities for innovating furniture that is flexible enough to adapt its shape to suit the needs of a room. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can leverage this trend to create products that cater to consumers who live in small spaces and need space-saving solutions. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can leverage this trend to create design schemes that are focused on maximizing space and functionality. - **Transportation and Logistics:** The transportation and logistics industry can leverage this trend to create products that cater to businesses that need to transport furniture in a more efficient way. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Industrial Shapeshifting Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jointable.md) - [Origami-Inspired Lit Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightup.md) - [Dynamic Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table.md) - [Adaptive Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture.md) - [Compact Outdoor Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-1.md) - [Multifunctional Magnetic Folding Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-table.md) - [Multifuntional Modular Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-transformer-table.md) - [Rolled-Up Wooden Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sofan.md) - [Compact Folding Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pelin-ozbalci.md)
