The unit works by being mounted onto the wall and will go to work providing a dedicated section for positioning a wallet, keys and even a smartphone. The various shelves on the unit are equipped with UV-C lights that will eradicate germs and bacteria to keep everyday essentials like smartphones, keys and wallets free from pathogens. This is further enhanced with a [hand sanitizer dispenser](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-sanitation-device) in the lower section for quickly cleaning hands upon arrival home. The conceptual 'Muhō' station is the design work of Stijn van Cuijk, Jakob Kohnle and Laurenz Simonis of the [Umeå Institute of Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beosound-tableau) in collaboration with [Electrolux](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wardrobe-dehumidifier). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Multifunctional Entryway Stations:** Opportunity to create entryway stations that combine storage and hygiene solutions for everyday essentials like smartphones and keys. - **UV-C Light Disinfection:** Potential for incorporating UV-C lights into everyday objects to eliminate germs and bacteria, such as on shelves and surfaces. - **Integrated Hand Sanitizer Dispensers:** Chance to integrate hand sanitizer dispensers into household items, allowing for easy and convenient cleaning upon arrival home. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can explore creating entryway stations that combine functionality and hygiene for a more organized living space. - **Smartphone Accessories:** Opportunity for smartphone accessory manufacturers to develop products that incorporate UV-C lights for disinfection and protection against pathogens. - **Hygiene Products:** Hygiene product companies can innovate by developing integrated hand sanitizer dispensers for various household items, promoting cleanliness and convenience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dedicated Cleaning Tool Sanitizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sterilizer-2022.md) - [Sanitizing Smartphone Charger Docks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charger-concept.md) - [Highly Effective Phone Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cleanstation.md) - [Three-in-One Hygiene Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-hygiene-kit.md) - [Micro Countertop Dish Sanitizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desktop-disinfection-cupboard.md) - [Countertop Crockery Sanitizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/utensil-disinfection-cabinet.md) - [Dual-Purpose Device Sanitizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totallee-uv-phone-sanitizer.md) - [Wireless Charging Sanitisers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/picnic-uv.md) - [Artistic Public Air Sterilizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/venue-smart-commercial-air-sanitisation-device.md)
