# Leather Cushion Confections Muffin Pouffe Serves up a Delectably Playful Seat By Matt Ho | Published 2011-10-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muffin-pouffe References: [designyoutrust](http://designyoutrust.com/2011/09/30/muffin-pouffe-by-matteo-bianchi/) & [hungeree](http://hungeree.com/?p=1220) While the Muffin Pouffe may look delicious from afar, this delectable design is not actually edible. However, it does serve a purpose other than hunger as a [comfortable lounger](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo-lounge-chair). Designer Matteo Bianchi designed the delectable Muffin Pouffe to look a lot like the top of a chocolate muffin. Bianchi created the seat to showcase his interpretation of an [ottoman or hassock](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/platero), which is basically furniture with padding. The top is made from leather and can be removed to function as a cushion on the floor. The top of the base reveals a hole in the middle that will allow storage for whatever item home owners may have laying in the living room. It's a simple, but convenient multi-functional piece that's deliciously playful at the same time. Matteo Bianchi's Muffin Pouffe made its debut at TENT London 2011. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 38% | Activity: 41% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Multi-functional Furniture:** The Muffin Pouffe represents the trend of creating furniture that serves multiple purposes, offering opportunities for companies to design innovative and convenient pieces. - **Playful Design:** The Muffin Pouffe's whimsical and delicious appearance reflects the trend of incorporating playful design elements into everyday objects, presenting opportunities for companies to create unique and eye-catching products. - **Storage Solutions:** The Muffin Pouffe's hidden storage feature taps into the trend of creating furniture that provides practical storage solutions, opening the door for companies to innovate and create efficient storage options. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Companies in the furniture manufacturing industry can explore the trend of multi-functional furniture and incorporate innovative designs into their product lines. - **Interior Design:** Professionals in the interior design industry can leverage the trend of playful design to create unique and visually appealing spaces for their clients. - **Home Organization:** Companies specializing in home organization products can capitalize on the trend of storage solutions by developing furniture pieces with hidden storage compartments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Muffin-Inspired Cat Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pets-pods.md) - [Striking Storage-Friendly Poufs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berliner-pouf.md) - [Rippled Modular Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puffa-furniture.md) - [Mochi-Inspired Seating Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mochiinspired-seating.md) - [Cozy Contemporary Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-bun.md) - [Organically Shaped Dynamic Poufs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/truffle-pouf.md) - [Geometric Upholstered Poufs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tait.md) - [Gathering-Encouraged Playful Poufs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palma-pouf.md) - [Eco-Friendly Pouf Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rio-pouffe.md)
