Nowadays, we have more stuff than we have storage. This can be particularly frustrating if you live in a bachelor apartment. If you're embarrassed to invite your friends over because of the clutter, you should definitely look into this [compartmentalized storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumba). The shelves move to create a "room within a room" scenario -- talk about architectural inception! The units allow rooms to transform; for instance, a bedroom can easily become a reading alcove, office or kitchen simply by shifting the walls. Each container, [wardrobe or cabinet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinet) is attached onto a railing system near the ceiling, making the shifting process simple and easy to use. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Movable Shelving Systems:** There is a growing trend in designing movable shelving systems that optimize space. - **Space Optimization:** The demand for compartmentalized storage and space optimization solutions is on the rise. - **Transformative Furniture:** There is an increasing interest in furniture that can transform and adapt to different room functionalities. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Interior design companies can explore the development and implementation of movable shelving systems to cater to the demand for space optimization. - **Home Organization:** Companies specializing in home organization solutions can take advantage of the trend towards compartmentalized storage and offer innovative products. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can seize the opportunity to create transformative furniture pieces that can adapt to various room functionalities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Flexible Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving.md) - [Adaptable Flat-Pack Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-pack-shelving.md) - [Modular Configuration Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repisa-01.md) - [Modular Decor Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halblang-blendend.md) - [Customizable Style-Conscious Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-modular-shelf-system.md) - [Modular Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/original-modern-shelving.md) - [Modular Organized Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unit-shelving-system.md) - [Modular Contemporary Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv.md) - [Modern Convertible Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blendend.md)
