# Rodent-Receiving Baseboards The Mouse Door Welcomes Your Household Crum-Eating Critters By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-03-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mouse-door References: [sixpointun](http://www.sixpointun.ca/eng/mouse_door.html) Anyone who has been on a mission to [rid his home of rodents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rat-birth-control) will have discovered how difficult a task this can be. Well the Mouse Door proposes the "if you can't beat them, join them," attitude -- or more specifically, a mentality that allows those cheese-loving creatures a way to join you. The Canadian design studio Six Point Un has come up with an adorable limited edition skirting board with a built-in trapdoor. It seems that the arched portal itself can be installed within your existing baseboard. Measuring 3 inches in height and 2.5 inches in width, the [MDF](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twinsmdf) Mouse Door nestles snugly within an opening of your molding of the same size. A teeny-tiny Queen Anne brass doorknob and a [miniature hinge](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/milda-evolve-door) create an air of invitation for domestic mice. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Rodent-friendly Interiors:** Designing home interiors to incorporate and accommodate rodents as pets or housemates, leading to new opportunities for pet industry products. - **Innovative Trap Designs:** Revolutionizing the concept of traditional traps and expanding the trap industry to include unconventional methods like furniture integration. - **Eco-friendly Pest Control:** Discovering eco-friendly solutions to control pest population in home or business spaces, leading to new innovations in the pest control industry. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** Designing furniture that seamlessly conceals traps to control pest activity within a home or office setting, providing both functionality and aesthetic value. - **Home Improvement:** Exploring new home improvement options to solve pest problems such as redesigning baseboards and wall fixtures to attract and trap pests, leading to more efficient and eco-friendly solutions. - **Pest Control:** Developing innovative pest control solutions that are not only safe and effective, but also humane and eco-friendly, following growing consumer concern for more sustainable pest control practices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modern House Pet Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/choo-choo-console.md) - [Subscription-Based Pet Doors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onlycat.md) - [Barrier-Based Pest Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slick-barrier.md) - [Panel-Made Mouse Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beetle-acoustic-panels.md) - [Technologically-Driven Rodent Traps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thanos-home.md) - [Steampunk Multifunctional Computer Mouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/d-mouse.md) - [Gritty Rodent-Inspired Boots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ratboot.md) - [Sushi-Inspired Computer Mouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moushi-mouse.md) - [Rodent-Preventative Trash Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/group-project.md)
