# Morbid Mouse Chess Sets A Taxidermist Created an Entire Chess Set Made Up of Dead Mice By Angela Rajic | Published 2013-12-11 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mouse-chess-set References: [geekologie](http://geekologie.com/2013/12/for-the-person-who-has-everything-like-l.php) & [dangerousminds.net](http://dangerousminds.net/comments/taxidermied_mice_chess_set) Chess is an ancient game, and many versions of the iconic chess set and game have been developed over the years, including Sci-Fi chess sets, London Skyline chess sets and now, mouse chess sets. A taxidermist who goes by the moniker TheCurious13 fashioned this unusual and morbid set from white and black mice that have been preserved via taxidermy and dressed up to match the pieces they play -- king, queen, bishop, knight, etc. This mouse chess set is completely playable for those who have no qualms about taxidermy or animals, and it will definitely be an eye-catching visual in any home. This rather bizarre mouse chess set would also make a great conversation starter and would be a topic of great debate in whatever household it sits in. It’s an interesting set, and testament to the evolving art of taxidermy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Morbid Taxidermy Art:** The use of taxidermy to create unique and unconventional art pieces like the mouse chess sets presents opportunities to disrupt traditional art forms. - **Unconventional Game Design:** The development of unconventional game designs, like the mouse chess set, presents opportunities for game designers to create unique and interesting gameplay experiences. - **Edgy Home Decor:** The trend towards edgier and more unconventional home decor presents opportunities to disrupt traditional decor styles and cater to a new niche market. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Taxidermy:** The use of taxidermy in unconventional ways, such as creating mouse chess sets, presents opportunities to disrupt the traditional taxidermy industry and expand into new markets. - **Game Development:** The production of unconventional game designs, like the mouse chess set, presents opportunities for game development companies to carve out a unique space in the gaming industry. - **Home Decor:** The trend towards edgier and unconventional home decor presents opportunities for companies to disrupt the traditional decor industry and create products for a new niche market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Celestial Anti-Conflict Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/another-kingdom-light-stage-chess-set.md) - [Minimalist Artful Chessboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tarek-elkassouf.md) - [Minimalist Monolithic Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-chess-set.md) - [NYC-Inspired Structural Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chess-nyc.md) - [Eco-Friendly Beeswax Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beeswax-chess-set.md) - [Chocolate Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compartes-chocolate-chess.md) - [Beautifully Artful Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-chess-set.md) - [Brutalist Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mohmaya.md) - [Chess-Themed Art Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/checkmate-collection.md)
