# Cellular Cyborgs Motorola V600 Decepticon Transforms Mobile Phones Forever By Alex Scott | Published 2010-01-27 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motorola-v600-decepticon References: [coolbuzz.org](http://www.coolbuzz.org/entry/the-all-new-diy-decepticon-is-is-not-a-transformer/) & [instructables](http://www.instructables.com/id/Desktop-Decepticon-A-Transformers-Maquette/) Usually when we’re finished with our [outdated flip phones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2660-flip), we just pitch them in the trash to join other old, obscure technology. Gingerpete50 decided to hang on to his classic mobile and transform it into something much more than it was before: a [Motorola](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motorola-rizr) V600 Decepticon. Though not actually related to the [Transformers franchise](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robosen-soundwave), the Motorola V600 Decepticon looks like it would be right at home terrorizing cities in one of the films. Although it cannot transform back into a phone, this creation is just too cool to ignore. The Motorola V600 Decepticon may not change forms but has definitely changed my mind as to what to do with my old phones. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Upcycling Technology:** Transforming outdated flip phones into functional and stylish devices presents an opportunity for creative upcycling projects. - **Nostalgic Modifications:** Modifying classic mobile phones with unique designs taps into the nostalgia trend and offers customization options. - **Tech-inspired Art:** Creating phone-themed art pieces, like the Motorola V600 Decepticon, showcases the fusion of technology and creativity. ### Who This Affects Most - **Electronics Recycling:** The upcycling trend can create new opportunities and business models in the electronics recycling industry. - **Customization Services:** Providing modification and customization services for vintage mobile phones can cater to nostalgic consumers seeking unique devices. - **Art and Design:** Tech-inspired art and design can be a lucrative industry for artists and designers looking to merge technology with creativity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Resurrected Used Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/project-afterlife.md) - [Nostalgic Flip Phone Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nokia-n90.md) - [Innovative Size-Changing Phones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motorola-rizr.md) - [Wacky Design Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-phone-experimentation.md) - [Retro-Futuristic Cellphone Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noka-7610-5g.md) - [Flip Phone-Inspired Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-galaxy-z-flip5-retro.md) - [Industrial Cellphone Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nokia-n90-x-nothing-concept.md) - [Swappable Keypad Cellphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sidephone-sp01.md) - [Retro-Chic Nostalgic Flip Phones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barbie-phone.md)
