Users can access the ‘Live Location’ button to watch their bus move and approach their location along the transit line. Riders may also sign up for service notifications for a specific line to know when the tracking data was most recently updated. “Live Location offers the ability to see transit lines, displayed on the map as icons, move along the map as they progress (or are delayed) along their journey,” Yovav Meydad, Moovit’s chief growth and marketing officer, commented. “The feature is accessible from every Moovit screen where the real-time arrival countdown is available via the Action Bar along the bottom of the screen.” Image Credit: Moovit ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 13% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Travel](https://www.trendhunter.com/travel) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Real-time Transit Tracking:** The implementation of real-time transit tracking technology offers opportunities for companies to improve the consumer experience by providing real-time information and enhancing their ability to plan and adjust their daily commutes. - **Mobile Transit Apps:** As mobile transit apps continue to evolve, they offer an opportunity for companies to enhance the usefulness of public transportation by offering interactive features that can help users make more informed transit choices. - **Service Notifications:** By offering custom service notifications, companies can proactively inform riders of any delays or changes to their scheduled transit routes, minimizing confusion and providing peace of mind. ### Who This Affects Most - **Public Transportation:** The public transportation industry can benefit from the implementation of real-time tracking and mobile app technology to enhance the overall rider experience and encourage increased usage. - **Mobile App Development:** By developing and designing mobile apps with real-time transit tracking as a core feature, companies can expand their portfolio and meet the growing demand for mobile transit options. - **Data Analytics:** By collecting data on ridership, transit routes and real-time tracking, data analytic companies can help transit agencies make informed decisions about the use of public transit and identify new areas of demand. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cross-Region Ticketing Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moovit-ticket-purchasing.md) - [Eco-Friendly Transit Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moovit-x-lime.md) - [Real-Time Subway Map Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-weekendest.md) - [AR-Based Map Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/google-maps-1.md) - [Convenience-Focused Transportation Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transportation-apps.md) - [Smartphone Map App Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mapapp-feature.md) - [Real-Time Tracker Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/safety-alerts.md) - [Logistics-Tracking GPS Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/logistics-tracking-gps-app.md) - [Proactive School Bus-Tracking Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/school-bustracking.md)
