The design features a curved shell that rests on three thin wooden legs and appears more as a robotic space pod than a music-playing device. The sleek system's aesthetic pays homage to [mid-century design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/d32), which has been making a rapid comeback within the design world in recent years. Every detail of the product is functional and elegant, posing as an answer to the question "what happens if basic home decor were treated as a sculpture?" This throwback product would speak to lovers of experimental design who are seeking a speaker system that adds more value to a home than its ability to play music. Both functional and sculptural, the Moonraker Speaker System is an artful alternative to traditional devices. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Mid-century Design Resurgence:** Opportunity to create innovative products that blend retro aesthetics with modern technology. - **Functional Sculptural Design:** Designing products that serve a purpose while also being visually appealing. - **Experimental Home Decor:** Designing home products that push the boundaries of traditional design norms. ### Where This Applies - **Audio Technology:** Creating speaker systems that prioritize both functionality and aesthetic appeal. - **Furniture and Home Decor:** Designing unique and artistic home decor items that serve a functional purpose. - **Consumer Electronics:** Incorporating artistic design elements into consumer electronic devices and appliances. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernized Retro Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-memory.md) - [Space-Inspired Sound Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beosound-2-vollebak.md) - [Retro-Inspired Limited Speaker Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bellame.md) - [Shell-Inspired Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shell-intelligent.md) - [Connected Retro Design Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ruark-r140-sound-system.md) - [Stylish Low-Tech Sound Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frame-sound.md) - [Spaceship-Resembling Premium Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zeppelin-pro-edition.md) - [Edgy Speaker Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brutalist-speaker.md) - [Whimsically Designed Speaker Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-for-ara-fs1-and-fs2.md)
