# Landscaped Seating Systems The Moon Chair Series Collectively Emulates the Undulating Hills By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-12-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-chair References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/range-of-chairs-playful-seating-set-inspired-by-mountains/) & [keisukefujiwara](http://www.keisukefujiwara.com/) Designers take inspiration from nature in many different ways, two of which are evident in the Moon Chair collection. First of all, the set of dining chairs is made from warmly finished [wooden material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-chair-on-grass), yet the forms have been sculpted with [organic shapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-heart-chair) in mind too. Arrange the five perches in a row, matching the [curving upper edges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-outdoor-furniture) to the corners of the adjacent. What you'll establish is a continuous wavelike pattern that undulates smoothly from piece to piece, mimicking the gentle rise and fall of the hills and mountain ranges on the horizon. For some added visual intrigue, Keisuke Fujiwara gave one of the Moon Chairs an actual cutout of a crescent moon, overlapping terrestrial silhouettes and celestial features. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Nature-inspired Seating:** Designing seating systems that mimic organic shapes and natural landscapes presents an opportunity for creating unique and visually appealing furniture. - **Warm Wooden Material:** Exploring the use of warmly finished wooden material in furniture design can provide a sense of warmth and comfort in seating systems. - **Visual Intrigue:** Incorporating visually intriguing elements, such as cutouts or overlapping features, adds a touch of creativity and storytelling to seating designs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Creating nature-inspired seating systems can disrupt the furniture manufacturing industry by offering unique and innovative designs. - **Interior Design:** Integrating warm wooden materials and visually intriguing elements in seating designs can provide interior designers with new creative options to enhance spaces. - **Hospitality:** Incorporating nature-inspired seating systems with visual intrigue can create a memorable and immersive experience for guests in the hospitality industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Moon-Inspired Modular Seating Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wigiwama.md) - [Curved Bamboo Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-moon-chair.md) - [Adaptable Ergonomic Office Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-moon-chair.md) - [Philosophical Sustainable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lunar-chair.md) - [Organic Form Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/undia.md) - [Arched Circular Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eclipse-chair.md) - [Stainless Steel Reflective Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair.md) - [Modern Seating Centerpieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-chair.md) - [Celestial Body Office Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-chair-solar-series.md)
