# Monstrous Art Exhibitions Illustrators Have a Ball With 'Monsters Inked' at Idea Generation Galler By Cowbag | Published 2009-03-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monsterous-art-illustrators-have-a-monsters-ball References: [ideageneration](http://www.ideageneration.co.uk) This is set to be a monstrously good show--it’s called 'Monsters Inked: Inside the Minds of the Gods of Monsters.' It is also the world's first exhibition of Rob Steen’s famed *Flanimals*, catapulted into the public domain by its strong association with Ricky Gervais. Another artist heavily featured in 'Monsters Inked: Inside the Minds of the Gods of Monsters' is Pete Fowler. His surreal and psychedelic style is best known for his work with the Welsh band [Super Furry Animals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/only-love-can-break-your-heart) (see video). You can see all of these and more at the [Idea Generation Gallery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/podunk) from April 8th. Meanwhile, see more of Pete Fowler's work in the video above. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Monster-inspired Artwork:** Opportunity to showcase and explore the growing trend of monster-inspired artwork in exhibitions and galleries. - **Celebrity Association:** Leveraging celebrity association to boost the visibility and popularity of art exhibitions and artists. - **Surreal and Psychedelic Art:** Growing demand for surreal and psychedelic art in the art market, creating space for innovative and disruptive artists. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art Exhibition:** Opportunity for art galleries and exhibition spaces to curate unique and engaging shows featuring monster-inspired artwork and artists with celebrity associations. - **Art Market:** Innovative artists creating surreal and psychedelic art can disrupt the traditional art market by offering new and unique works that cater to the growing demand for unconventional art pieces. - **Entertainment Industry:** Partnerships between artists and celebrities can offer opportunities for cross-promotion and collaboration, benefiting both the entertainment industry and the art world. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Pattern-Heavy Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/what-are-you-looking-at.md) - [Adorable Monster-Inspired Graphic Tees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-monsters.md) - [Weather-Inspired Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weatherinspired-art-exhibition.md) - [Playful Character Graphic Apparel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monsters-collection.md) - [Surreal Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery.md) - [Multi-Sensory Pop-Up Galleries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/popup-gallery.md) - [Smiling Snakes Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smiling-snakes-art-exhibition.md) - [Fantasy Energy Drink Activations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monster-energy-ultra.md)
