# Suffocating Alien Masks This LEGO Mask by Carlos Varlero is a Face-Hugging Film Monster Replica By | Published 2013-05-29 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monster-replica References: [lostateminor](http://www.lostateminor.com/2013/05/29/a-lego-facehugger-sure-why-not/) & [al13n163na.deviantart](http://al13n163na.deviantart.com/gallery/) This [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-lord-lego-helmet)-made film monster replica of the face-hugging alien from the 1979 film of the same name is both realistic and suffocating. Made by Carlos Valero entirely of [LEGO building blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-moc), this mask is horrifically realistic, closely resembling its repulsive alien inspiration although without the goo and fluids. The mask clamps over the wearer's face just as the alien does in the film. However, since this alien isn't actually alive, the mask could be used as an [elaborate costume piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-001-artistry-mask) or even as a sleeping mask. Valero's clear enthusiasm for 'Alien' comes through in this piece, which is one of the most elaborate examples of fan art in recent years. This film monster replica was created with the utmost care, attention to detail and passion making it the ultimate 'Alien' tribute. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/toys) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Lego-made Film Monster Replicas:** The creation of realistic film monster replicas using LEGO building blocks presents opportunities for creative toy design and collector markets. - **Elaborate Fan Art:** The rise of elaborate fan art, such as Carlos Valero's LEGO mask, indicates a growing market for unique and niche collectibles. - **Customizable Costume Accessories:** The use of masks like the LEGO face-hugging alien replica as costume accessories provides an opportunity for customizable and immersive cosplay experiences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Toy Design:** The toy design industry can explore the creation of realistic film monster replicas using LEGO building blocks, catering to collectors and fans of popular movies. - **Collectibles:** The collectibles market can tap into the growing demand for unique and niche items like elaborate fan art, offering limited edition pieces and collaborations with fan artists. - **Cosplay:** The cosplay industry can offer customizable costume accessories like the LEGO face-hugging alien replica to enhance the immersive experience and provide unique options for cosplayers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Comic-Inspired LEGO Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-lord-lego-helmet.md) - [Horror Film-Inspired Brick Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ideas-jaws-set.md) - [Building Block Musician Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daft-punk-lego-helmets.md) - [Sci-Fi Movie Scene Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-death-star-trash-compactor-diorama.md) - [Nostalgic Film-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boos-door.md) - [Witty Toy-Brand Horror Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horror-poster.md) - [Shark Film-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jaws-lego.md) - [Digital Avatar LED Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qudi-mask-2.md) - [Monster-Honoring Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/godzilla-lego.md)
