The steamy 15-minute 16 mm tape of Marilyn Monroe features her oral performance on an unidentified male. The tape recently hit the market and has been acquired by a New York businessman for $1.5 million. The footage first surfaced in the mid 1960s when -according to FBI documents- FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover tried unsuccessfully to prove that the guy was either then-President John F. Kennedy or his brother, Robert F. Kennedy. An FBI informant copied the confiscated original film (which is still being held by the FBI as a [classified reel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pope-francis-leica-ma)), resulting in the just sold *only* copy of the footage. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Naughty](https://www.trendhunter.com/naughty) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Vintage Celebrity Scandals:** Opportunity to capitalize on the demand for rare and scandalous footage of iconic celebrities from the past. - **Private Collectibles Market:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to create platforms or marketplaces for buying and selling exclusive and controversial artifacts. - **Historical Conspiracy Theories:** Potential to uncover and present new evidence related to past events, serving the curiosity of those interested in uncovering hidden secrets. ### Who This Affects Most - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can explore the monetization of vintage celebrity scandals through documentaries, books, or films. - **E-commerce:** The e-commerce industry has the potential to create a specialized marketplace for collectors interested in acquiring historical artifacts and memorabilia. - **Investigative Journalism:** Opportunity for investigative journalists to delve deeper into historical conspiracy theories and potentially uncover new revelations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Extravagant Luxury Bourbons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-bourbon.md) - [Philosopher-Neighbouring Burial Plots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karl-marxs-tomb.md) - [Pricey Baseball Memorabilia Jerseys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/called-shot.md) - [Rare Camera Auctions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pope-francis-leica-ma.md) - [Reimagined Retro Amplifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-amplifier.md) - [Luxe Film-Inspired Trinkets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/faberg-x-007-octopussy-egg-objet.md) - [Expensive Whiskey Sales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emerald-isle-whiskey.md) - [Musician-Honoring Cassette Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/we001-elvis-presley-limited-edition.md) - [Mysterious Painted Car-Door Auctions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-horse.md)
