# Funky '90s Washbasins The Monowash Sink by Ceramica Flaminia is Colortastic By Meghan Young | Published 2010-05-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monowash-sink References: [trendir](http://www.trendir.com/archives/004358.html) & [ceramicaflaminia.it](http://www.ceramicaflaminia.it/) I don't think anyone could deny how utterly amazing the Monowash sink is. It brings back only the best memories for me, being a '90s child--although I think of the more fashion-related memories rather than [sinks and washbasins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luneup). The abstract, tribalesque [pedestal of the Monowash sink](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archiplan-compact-basin-collection), however, is the perfect way to add that much needed punch of color to your washroom. Designed by Giulio Cappellini for Ceramica Flaminia, the Monowash sink is made from a single block of ceramic. This funky piece combines both decor with function--how can you not appreciate it? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **90s-inspired Decor:** The unique design of the Monowash sink taps into nostalgia for the 90s, indicating potential for more products that blend function and style from the era. - **Bold Color Accents:** The colorful pedestal of the Monowash sink demonstrates a growing trend towards bold and unexpected color choices in home design, with opportunities to apply this trend to other products and industries. - **Single-block Design:** The Monowash sink's use of a single block of ceramic represents a trend towards minimalist and innovative design solutions, suggesting potential for similar innovations in the home design and construction industries. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Funky and nostalgic design elements like the Monowash sink have clear applications in the home decor industry, indicating an opportunity for products that appeal to 90s nostalgia and bold design choices. - **Bathroom Fittings:** The Monowash sink's innovative design offers potential for similar disruptions in the bathroom fittings industry, with opportunities for products that challenge traditional design conventions. - **Ceramics Manufacturing:** The single-block manufacturing approach taken by Ceramica Flaminia for the Monowash sink showcases opportunities for innovation and optimization in the ceramics manufacturing industry, with benefits for both design and sustainability. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Concrete Wash Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kast-wave-collection.md) - [Collaborative Seashell-Like Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spire-washbasin.md) - [Angular Ceramic Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/angle-washbasin.md) - [Ultra-Modern Freestanding Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freestanding-sink.md) - [Illuminated Base Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antoniolupi-albumelux.md) - [Slick Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slick-bathroom-sink.md) - [Electric Kiln-Made Unique Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-1.md) - [Dynamic Marble Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinito.md) - [Marble Slab Washbasins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piano-washbasin.md)
