A stoic, monolithic home has been erected in Perth, Australia by architecture studio MORQ. The project was dubbed the 'Cloister House' and it features a very interesting balance of opposing aesthetics.

The project called for "a sheltered place of refuge" and it was commissioned by a couple. As a result, the studio took privacy and design into great consideration. The monolithic home boasts a strong and dominating aesthetic. Moreover, the silhouette of the building is striking in and of itself as the exterior is almost windowless which is an interesting touch. MORQ balanced this [brutalist character](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/south-yarra-house) out with the infusion of an [internal courtyard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-atrium-house) that is abundant in vegetation, creating an intuitive balance between the monolithic home and lush, natural manifestations.
