# Stratified Public Seating The Monolit Bench by Pawel Grobelny is Simple and Sculptural By Meghan Young | Published 2013-11-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monolit-bench References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/11/20/monolit-bench-by-pawel-grobelny/) & [pawelgrobelny](http://pawelgrobelny.com/monolit-bench/) If all [public seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench) was as good-looking as the Monolit Bench, cities would get an overall facelift. In fact, it would probably snowball into other public designs as well. Essentially, the Monolit Bench is a [laser cut stratified seat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monolit-chair) that blends in beautifully with the [manicured shrub that surrounds it](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tenir-bench). It is so seamless that people might believe that it was there first and that the bush simply grew around it. The Monolit Bench was designed by Pawel Grobelny for Jardin d’Albertine in Brussels, Belgium. A stunning edition to the garden it is set it, it is made entirely out of wood. In this way, the Monolit Bench is a perfect combination of modernity and tradition. Not to mention that it complements nature in an urban way. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Stratified Public Seating:** Opportunity for designing aesthetically pleasing public seating that seamlessly blends with natural surroundings. - **Laser-cut Design:** Opportunity for incorporating laser-cutting technology to create intricate and seamless public seating designs. - **Urban Nature Integration:** Opportunity for integrating nature-inspired elements into urban environments through innovative seating designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Landscape Architecture:** Opportunity for landscape architects to incorporate unique and visually appealing seating designs in public spaces. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to explore laser-cutting technology to create innovative and visually striking seating designs. - **Urban Planning:** Opportunity for urban planners to enhance the integration of nature in urban environments through the design of functional and visually pleasing public seating. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Curvaceous Sculptural Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strate-bench.md) - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Dual Sculpture Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001.md) - [Sculptural Gravity Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench.md) - [Adaptable Outdoor Seat Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monom-seater-concept.md) - [Chic Recycled Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bello-bench.md) - [Elegantly Airy Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arch-bench.md) - [Minimalist Meditative Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pause-bench.md) - [Repurposed Brick Public Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-public-furniture.md)
