Complete with [cathedral ceilings and a steeple](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lighthouse-church), this cultural hub was once a religious one. Yet now people can worship the written word in a different way. Surprisingly clean and contemporary, the airy and bright space is the perfect place to browse for reading material, study for exams and more. Designed by Côté Leahy Cardas Architects in collaboration with Dan Hanganu, the Monique Corriveau Library is located in Quebec, Canada. The architects worked off of the original building design, which was envisioned by fellow architect Jean-Marie Roy back in 1964. It is complete with a spiralling staircase and [yellow accents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yellamundie). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Church-renovated Libraries:** Renovating churches into libraries presents an opportunity for creating unique cultural spaces. - **Cathedral-inspired Architecture:** Drawing inspiration from cathedral design offers innovative possibilities for creating visually stunning buildings. - **Clean and Contemporary Spaces:** Designing libraries with a clean and contemporary aesthetic enhances the overall reading and studying experience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects can explore the potential of renovating religious buildings into functional and visually appealing spaces, such as libraries. - **Education:** Educational institutions can consider repurposing churches into libraries to offer students a unique and inspiring learning environment. - **Cultural Spaces:** Organizations focused on promoting culture and literature can transform churches into libraries, creating new spaces for community engagement and exploration. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wood-Wrapped Contemporary Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graded-school-library.md) - [Memory-Grounded School Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rahmah-library.md) - [Arched Opening Village Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pkinception.md) - [Juxtaposing Angular Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brixen-public-library.md) - [Tree-Like Library Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-of-knowledge.md) - [Contemporary Art Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/espace-gabrielle-chanel.md) - [Mobile Glass Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-libreria.md) - [Modern Blue-Accented Academic Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marie-esther-pavilion.md) - [Brutalist Converted Learning Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archipelago.md)
