# Crib-Chair Hybrids Moep by Dirk Ploos van Amstel is Multifunctional Furniture for Children By Meghan Young | Published 2012-09-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moep-by-dirk-ploos-van-amstel References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/09/20/babe-rocker/) & [dvandirk.nl](http://www.dvandirk.nl/) Moep by Dirk Ploos van Amstel is a hybrid between a chair and a crib. Perfect for parents who find themselves either up all night with their newborn or simply can't resist watching and playing with their child, it offers a front row seat to all that and more. More than that, instead of having to hold their child to rock them, a parent simply needs to rock back and forth in the chair to provide that soothing motion. Going beyond the practical, Moep by Dirk Ploos van Amstel is also incredibly multi-functional. For instance, when the baby outgrows his or her crib, the side portion can be converted into a [magazine rack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lap-chair) that conveniently stays attached to the chair. It is easy to assemble. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Multifunctional Furniture:** The trend of incorporating multiple functions into furniture designs creates opportunities for innovative and space-saving solutions. - **Parent-child Bonding:** The trend of designing furniture that facilitates parent-child interaction and bonding can inspire new products and experiences. - **Adaptable Baby Products:** The trend of creating adaptable baby products that grow with the child offers possibilities for long-term usability and sustainability. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can explore new designs and materials to create multifunctional furniture pieces. - **Baby Product Manufacturing:** The baby product manufacturing industry has opportunities to develop adaptable and innovative products that enhance parent-child bonding. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can incorporate and promote multifunctional furniture in their designs, offering practical and stylish solutions for clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Childhood Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crib-concept.md) - [Moon-Inspired Modular Seating Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wigiwama.md) - [Toddler-Convertible Cots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parry-cot.md) - [Transforming Child Stool Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipflap-childrens-chair.md) - [Relaxed Outdoor Breastfeeding Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamo-chair.md) - [Adaptable Modern High Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bugaboo-giraffe.md) - [Sleek Cradle-Transforming Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/schwan.md) - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md) - [Adaptive Modern High Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/high-chair.md)
