A modular village has been proposed by Danish architect Sigurd Larsen who attempts to offer viable solutions to the [housing crisis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/affordable-housing-prototype) in Berlin. As the urban population is steadily growing, there is a demand for flexible residencies that are also affordable. Working with the inevitable space restrictions, Sigurd Larsen offers a [modular village concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pebl-grand-cabin) that is envisioned to occupy the roofs of existing apartment buildings.

The concept boasts a linear park on the roof of a building located between Kreuzberg and Mitte -- two neighborhoods in the city. The strip of greenery will be surrounded by [wooden units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-nests-treepod-project) that have been "assembled using a modular system." Each dwelling will boast the necessary amenities, a window that faces toward the city and the option for further plug-in modules for space optimization.
