# Collapsible Cube Lighting The Modular Lights by Robhoff Shift to Illuminate Different Areas By Meghan Young | Published 2011-05-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-lights References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/modular-lights-by-robhoff/) & [robhoff](http://robhoff.com/) I am truly fascinated by these Modular Lights. Yes, they are rather simple, yet their minimalist design cannot hide the fact that they manipulate light beautifully, as though putting on their very own light show. Designed by Robhoff (also known as Robert Hoffman), these Modular Lights take on a cubic form when at rest. Their sides can be shifted to distort their shape, almost as though the cube was collapsing on itself. The glow that is emitted through the resulting cracks is quite spectacular. These Modular Lights are aluminium and steel. Aside from its innate beauty, this light fixture allows you to direct light to wherever you need it at a particular moment. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Modular Lighting:** The trend of modular lighting allows for customizable and versatile lighting solutions. - **Minimalist Design:** The trend of minimalist design emphasizes simplicity and clean lines in lighting fixtures. - **Directional Lighting:** The trend of directional lighting provides focused illumination in specific areas. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can utilize modular lighting to create unique lighting arrangements in homes and offices. - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can incorporate minimalist lighting designs to enhance the aesthetic appeal of buildings. - **Hospitality:** The hospitality industry can adopt directional lighting to create ambiance and highlight specific areas in hotels, restaurants, and venues. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Shape-Shifting Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi.md) - [Infinitely Expandable Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cube-one-table-lamp.md) - [Structural Modular Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cube-one-table.md) - [Unconventional Modular Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luna-kaleido-series.md) - [Modular Brick Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-light.md) - [Modular Dynamic Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonside-neon-hex.md) - [Modular Wax Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-soft-solids.md) - [Connected Cubic Desk Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yeelight-cube.md) - [Illusory Multidimensional Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-light.md)
