# Indirect Illumination Camping Lanterns The 'Luminova' Modular Lantern Won't Shine Light in Eyes By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2019-05-08 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-lantern References: [thegadgetflow](https://thegadgetflow.com/portfolio/non-blinding-multifunctional-lantern/) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/superpacifica/luminova-a-compact-modular-lantern?ref=d5xxgm&utm_source=GadgetFlow&utm_campaign=GadgetFlow) The 'Luminova' modular lantern is a versatile camping accessory that will provide a convenient way to illuminate surroundings without having to deal with ultra-bright alternatives. The dual-purpose design of the lantern allows it to function as a traditional lantern with indirect illumination when required for food preparation and the like. The unit can then be transitioned into a flashlight to provide targeted illumination when traipsing around after dark to keep campers safer when spending extended periods of time outdoors. The 'Luminova' modular lantern has a dimmable LED that will provide up to 450 lumens of brightness and a life of 70,000 hours. The water-resistant camping accessory can also be packed down into a solution that's just eight inches in size to fit into any backpack or bag. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Modular Lanterns:** Creating versatile lantern designs that can transition between indirect and targeted illumination for different camping activities. - **Dimmable LED Lighting:** Developing LED lights with dimmable capabilities to provide adaptable brightness and energy efficiency for camping lanterns. - **Compact Camping Accessories:** Designing camping accessories, such as lanterns, that can be easily packed down into a compact size for convenient storage and transportation. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Outdoor Recreation:** The outdoor recreation industry can explore the development of modular lanterns to enhance the camping experience and provide safer lighting solutions for campers. - **Lighting:** The lighting industry can invest in the research and development of dimmable LED lights to cater to the specific needs of camping lanterns. - **Travel and Adventure Gear:** The travel and adventure gear industry can focus on creating compact and portable camping accessories, like lanterns, to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts who prioritize convenience and functionality in their gear. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multipurpose Camping Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camping-lights.md) - [Adaptable Campsite Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beyondop-led-camping-lantern.md) - [Extending Illuminator Camping Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fezoom-outdoor-camping-lantern.md) - [Telescoping Campsite Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outask-telescopic-lantern.md) - [Telescoping Outdoor Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/devos-outdoor-lightranger.md) - [Outdoor Lantern Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camping-lantern-1.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Camping Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/max-lantern.md) - [Dual-Function Gas Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-beacon-lantern.md) - [Interchangeable Component Camping Flashlights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecofriendly-camping-lantern.md)
