# Configurable Public Perches The Modul Bench System Can Combine Three Convenient Facilities By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-09-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modul-bench-system References: [germainverbrackel](http://www.germainverbrackel.com/) Three of the most valued elements of a public plaza have been married together in the Modul Bench System. The set consists of a two- or three-seater surface, a planter and a bike rack. Designers Germain Verbrackel and Ivan Rodriguez conceptualized their project as a [modular one](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-seating), enabling the city to set up the facilities in whichever combination seems most appropriate to the place. The [bicycle racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonder-x-skarper) can be connected directly to the back of the bench, or they can be anchored into the side of the large geometric plant pot. Perhaps an area devoted to the storage of two-wheelers is already in place nearby, making the jardiniere and chair combination ideal. The Modul Bench System affords freedom of assembly to enhance the amenities of any [outdoor space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-furniture-concept). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Modular Design:** The Modul Bench System demonstrates the trend of modular design, allowing for flexible and customizable configurations. - **Multi-functional Spaces:** The incorporation of a two- or three-seater surface, a planter, and a bike rack in the Modul Bench System reflects the trend of creating multi-functional spaces. - **Freedom of Assembly:** The Modul Bench System embraces the trend of freedom of assembly, enabling users to enhance outdoor spaces by combining various facilities. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Urban Planning:** The Modul Bench System presents opportunities for urban planners to create flexible and adaptable public spaces. - **Furniture Design:** The Modul Bench System showcases opportunities for furniture designers to develop modular outdoor seating solutions. - **Sustainability:** The incorporation of planters in the Modul Bench System aligns with the trend of sustainability, offering opportunities for landscape architects and environmental designers to integrate green elements in public spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Urban Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planter-300.md) - [Modular Outdoor Space Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mass-public-bench.md) - [Contemporary Customization Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-benches.md) - [Inclusive Modular Cityscape Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-bench.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Contemporary Modular Bench Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipside-modular-bench.md) - [Modular Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gb-modular-bench.md) - [Interaction-Promoting Public Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bench-seating.md) - [Modular Seating Design Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pla-modular-chair.md)
