# Sustainable Modern Wooden Furniture RHMB Boasts an Eco-Conscious and Adventure-Friendly Practice By Kalin Ned | Published 2018-04-04 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-wooden-furniture References: [design-milk](https://design-milk.com/rhmb-handcrafted-furniture-made-from-fallen-trees-around-london/) & [rhmb](http://www.rhmb.co.uk/) London-based company RHMB's modern wooden furniture boasts a sleek and elegant exterior that allows it to comfortably insert itself in most design-driven interior spaces. However, the materials of each piece have a curious and unique origin. Founder Robert Brain reminisces about his former years and climbing trees in East London and bases RHMB's material sourcing on childhood-like wonder and sustainability principles. The natural material for the pieces is taken from [downed trees in parks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/salvage-and-sap) and on streets. Thus, Robert Brain "forges a connection between the product and where it is produced." The unique modern wooden furniture collection by RHMB includes a coffee table, a side table and a sideboard. The pieces boast texture and personality, as Robert Brain allows for the [grain of the wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grain-pile) to show through. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sustainable Design:** RHMB's use of recycled materials creates an opportunity for more sustainable and eco-conscious furniture design. - **Local Sourcing:** RHMB's use of downed trees from local parks and streets highlights an opportunity for local sourcing of materials. - **Textured Finishes:** RHMB's allowance for wood grain to show through creates an opportunity for unique and textured finishes in modern furniture design. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** RHMB's use of sustainable materials and unique design creates an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the furniture manufacturing industry. - **Sustainable Living:** RHMB's eco-conscious practices create an opportunity for disruption in the sustainable living industry. - **Interior Design:** RHMB's modern wooden furniture design creates an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the interior design industry, especially for those seeking sustainable and eco-conscious options. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sustainable Side Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/re-up-side-tables.md) - [Felled Tree Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ptacek-home-chunk-line.md) - [Naturalistic Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/back-to-nature-collection.md) - [Waste-Based Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecofriendly-furniture1.md) - [Sustainable Sawmill Modular Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-betula-project.md) - [Organic Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roots-collection-1.md) - [Leftover Wood-Constructed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alexander-lervik-1.md) - [Dynamic Timber Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/down-to-earth.md) - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md)
