Located in a residential compound in Kuwait, this modern villa design is unique because it boasts [vertical aluminium slats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-house-1) on most of its windows to keep the residents cool in the shade and protected from passersby—and because it looks awesome! The ‘Lantern House’ house uses aluminum instead of wood for the slats because they are more likely to withstand the heat. “The aluminum screens around the house provide shade as well as one way views outside,” says architect Gijo Paul George. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Privacy-enhancing Designs:** There is a growing trend in the architecture industry towards incorporating creative designs that provide increased privacy for homeowners. - **Sustainable Cooling Solutions:** The use of innovative materials, such as aluminum slats, in architectural designs is becoming a popular trend in creating sustainable cooling solutions for buildings in hot climates. - **Aesthetic-driven Architecture:** There is an emerging trend in the architecture industry towards creating visually stunning designs that not only serve functional purposes but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of buildings. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Architects and designers have an opportunity to develop privacy-enhancing designs that utilize innovative materials to create sustainable cooling solutions for buildings in hot climates. - **Construction:** The construction industry can explore new methods and techniques for incorporating privacy-enhancing designs and sustainable cooling solutions into residential and commercial projects. - **Real Estate:** Real estate developers and agents have the potential to market and promote properties that feature privacy-enhancing and aesthetically appealing designs, catering to a growing demand for unique and comfortable living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wooden Louvre Secluded Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-aoyama.md) - [Wooden Screen Apartment Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ohlab.md) - [Slatted Wooden Suburban Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-slatted-house.md) - [Compact Urban Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stealth-house.md) - [Perforated Facade Urban Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/veil-house.md) - [Patio-Centering Villa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-tres-patis.md) - [Wooden Louvres Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-slab.md) - [Openable Wooden Shutter Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-house-1.md) - [Private Lifestyle Minimal Bungalows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/southwestern-residence.md)
