The home overlooks the Dry Creek Valley from its perch on [top of a bluff](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lagoon-view-residence) on the nine-acre plot. The architects were instructed to build an "informal" vacation spot for a young family. The home is arranged into two separate wings, which lie parallel to one another. The wing in the east end houses the children's bedrooms, as well as the guest quarters. Meanwhile, the west wing features the home's social spaces and master bedroom. The horizontal plan is countered with [clerestory glazing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tranquil-abiding), which allows an abundance of natural light to flood into the home. The kitchen looks out to the 50-foot swimming pool that further accentuates the home's long, linear form. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Linear Homes:** Designing homes with a long and continuous plan offers a sleek and modern aesthetic. - **Clerestory Glazing:** Incorporating clerestory glazing in homes allows for an abundance of natural light, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. - **Parallel Wings:** Arranging homes into two separate wings that lie parallel to one another provides privacy and distinct functional areas. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects can explore new design possibilities by creating linear homes with innovative use of clerestory glazing. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can leverage the concept of parallel wings to create distinct living areas with a sense of privacy. - **Construction:** The construction industry can incorporate clerestory glazing and linear home design techniques to create energy-efficient and visually striking residential properties. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hilltop Modern Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cloud-house.md) - [Meadow-Overlooking Sleek Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac-1.md) - [Design Collection-Honored Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hudson-lhouse.md) - [Faceted Cedar Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-house-on-a-hill.md) - [Rural Charred Modern Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stanfordville-house.md) - [Swiss Army Knife-Resembling Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crest-guesthouse.md) - [High Concrete Walled Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cesar-mancillas.md) - [Elegant Gabled Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hale-kiawe.md) - [Organic Lake Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/usonianinspired-lake-house.md)
