This chic shelf features a curved seashell shape that is ideal for housing a variety of diversely shaped books with the various compartments. Eric J. Wilhelm put together this bookshelf with a design inspired by [nautilus sea creatures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steampunk-nautilus). The small shelf features a rounded design with a variety of chambers that copy the aesthetic of the shell of a nautilus. Within each of these compartments is room to stash a [variety of books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe-book-stand) keeping different subjects organized. The books are also organized on a diagonal giving a unique appearance. According to Wilhelm, "This nautilus-inspired bookshelf isn't meant to be efficient or to pack books neatly, it's about willingly, enthusiastically accepting the chaos that is kids books" ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Curved Shelf Design:** The curved seashell design of these bookshelves can inspire the trend of curved shelf designs in home decor. - **Diversely Shaped Books:** The compartments in these bookshelves accommodate diversely shaped books, reflecting a trend of embracing unconventional book designs and formats. - **Organized Chaos:** The intentional chaos in organizing books on a diagonal reflects a trend of embracing organized chaos in interior design. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can explore creating more curved shelf designs that offer unique storage solutions. - **Publishing:** The publishing industry can experiment with creating and promoting diversely shaped books to cater to the demand for unconventional reading experiences. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can incorporate the concept of organized chaos in designing unique and visually appealing book display arrangements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheft.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Modular Contemporary Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv.md)
