The chair is a classic piece of collectible design created in 1948-1950 by the iconic American designer Charles Eames. The chair is known as the Rocker and has an elegant white [glass fiber shell](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panton-chair) with a steel frame and wooden rockers at the bottom. [Contemporary furniture design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/midcentury-chair-design) doesn’t really get any better than this. Sometimes you can get lucky and buy them for a reasonable price at an auction. This one is found on Lauritz.com and is estimated at 5,000 Danish kroner (aprox. £500). Now that would look great on my front porch! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Contemporary Furniture Design:** Exploring innovative and modern designs for furniture that can elevate the aesthetic of any space. - **Collectible Design:** The rising interest in acquiring and collecting unique, iconic pieces of furniture for their historical and artistic value. - **Online Auctions for Furniture:** The growing popularity of online platforms for buying and selling furniture, providing access to a wide range of options and potential bargains. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to create contemporary designs that appeal to collectors and enthusiasts looking for unique and valuable pieces. - **Art and Design Auctions:** The auction industry can capitalize on the demand for collectible furniture by offering specialized auctions and showcasing iconic designs. - **E-commerce and Online Marketplaces:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for online platforms to facilitate the sale and purchase of collectible furniture, providing a convenient and accessible marketplace for buyers and sellers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Recycled Mid-Century Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eames-shell-chairs.md) - [Sleek Structural Rocking Horses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocking-horse-chair.md) - [Updated Midcentury Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fiberglass-shell-chairs.md) - [Fabric-Wrapped Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zhe-rocking-chair.md) - [Sustainable Classic Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ec127.md) - [Danish Mid-Century Modern Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/danish-midcentury-modern.md) - [Architectural Dynamic Vintage Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/egoist-chaise.md) - [Slick Futuristic Chair Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/classical-norwegian-design.md) - [Modernized Rocking Chair Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nodding-chair.md)
