Palermo Viejo is a small historic urban space in Buenos Aires that is undergoing a steady transformation into a popular and modern neighborhood. Local design studio Alonso & Crippa undertake a renovation process of a two-storey brick building, transforming it into a [clean, minimalist and contemporary residence](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/158-purley-downs-road).

The project is called PH Thames, and it is just an example of how cities are aggregates of modern neighborhoods. From arty districts to bourgeois communal spaces, Alonso & Crippa's work on the historic house is an example of how the introduction of shops, restaurants and offices can change an urban area. Prior to Palermo Viejo's transformation into a modern neighborhood, the space was residential. Now, people are occupying the second floors of the [historic houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apartamento-relicrio) to make room for commercial development.
