The architect's main challenge was navigating the site's [long, narrow properties](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burr-studio-1). Anna Philippe, the chief architect on the project, decided on a three-tier design plan, which is erected according to the tree line, water line and art line. The home features [two stacked horizontal boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/salmon-house), which contain the basement and social areas of the ground floor. At the rear of the property, a vertical block is located, containing a [library and home office](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-house), along with the homeowner's private spaces. The top two floors of the residence are visible from street level, but the box foundation is not. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Tree Line Architecture:** The trend of designing buildings according to the natural tree line, offering a harmonious integration with the environment. - **Vertical Box Construction:** The trend of constructing buildings with vertical blocks, optimizing space usage and creating distinct areas within the structure. - **Discrete Home Design:** The trend of creating homes that are discreetly tucked away, offering privacy and a sense of tranquility. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can explore innovative ways to seamlessly blend buildings with their natural surroundings, focusing on sustainability and aesthetic appeal. - **Construction:** The construction industry can embrace the vertical box construction trend to optimize space in buildings and offer unique design solutions. - **Real Estate:** The real estate industry can market discreetly designed homes as an emerging trend, appealing to buyers seeking privacy and a peaceful living environment. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Modular German Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-anton-ii.md) - [Staggered Floor Modern Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-seven-floors.md) - [Compact Corner Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modus-architect.md) - [Compact Residential Additions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henville-street-house.md) - [Multigenerational Modern Twin-Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-with-one-pillar.md) - [Grass-Filled Orchard Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bliesgau-house.md) - [Chilean Hillside Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-three-heights.md) - [Sustainable Cubic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appels-architekten.md) - [Swiss Army Knife-Resembling Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crest-guesthouse.md)
