# Inviting Winter Retreats The Modern Cabin GJ-9 by Gudmundur Jonsson Architect is Warmly Welcoming By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2013-03-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-cabin-gj9-by-gudmundur-jonsson-architect References: [homedsgn](http://www.homedsgn.com/2013/03/28/modern-cabin-gj-9-by-gudmundur-jonsson-architect/) & [gudmundurjonsson.no](http://www.gudmundurjonsson.no) Being a born and raised Canadian, the Modern Cabin GJ-9 by Gudmundur Jonsson Architect speaks to my inner love for [inviting winter retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-cabin). The cabin is located in Bjergøy, Norway and boasts clean lines that are created using [simple wood and stone materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nature-pod). Nestled just off a [quant river](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bora-boral), the Modern Cabin GJ-9 by Gudmundur Jonsson Architect is quite modern without appearing overbearing. That's one qualm I have about modern architecture: it can sometimes appear too perfect to live in. However, that's no issue with the Modern Cabin GJ-9 because it's modern, but at the same time relaxed to emphasis that while in it, there's plenty of time to read a book, nestle by the fire or take a stroll outside during a sunny, but chilly winter morn. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Modern-style Cabins:** Opportunity for architects and builders to create modern cabin designs that merge simplicity and warmth - **Winter Retreats:** Growing demand for cozy and inviting retreats to escape harsh winter weather conditions - **Sustainable Materials:** Increasing interest and adoption of sustainable materials for cabins and other rustic structures ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Opportunity for architects to create modern cabin designs that emphasize simplicity, warmth, and relaxation - **Hospitality:** Opportunity for hotel and resort developers to create winter retreats with cozy and inviting design elements - **Construction:** Growing demand for sustainable materials and modern cabin designs presents an opportunity for builders and construction companies ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Log Cabin-Inspired Minimal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/restua.md) - [Tranquil Cozy Canadian Cottages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/white-rock-cottage.md) - [Tranquil Seasonal Canadian Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-cabin.md) - [Arctic Floating Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-vipp-guesthouse.md) - [Architectural Tranquil Cabin Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolder-londges.md) - [Captivating Modern Prefab Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skali-backcountry-cubiod.md) - [Artistic Lakeside Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ely-retreat.md) - [Circular Windowed Woodland Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timber-nest.md) - [Contemporary Wooden Blue Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-cabin.md)
