# Modern Beach Houses Orlando Soria Designs a Minimalist Home that Acts as a Relaxing Getaway By Meghan Young | Published 2014-10-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-beach-houses References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/beach-house-homepolish/) & [homepolish](https://www.homepolish.com) Orlando Soria may have designed an interior space that falls in the category of modern beach houses, but it is a home, not an escape. The beauty of this particular style is that it turns a living space into a relaxing retreat that will encourage residents to unwind as soon as they saunter through the door. Commissioned by an under-30 founder of a successful tech company, it was imperative that this space imbue all the staple qualities of modern beach houses. [Minimalist and serene](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-hkarn), it is a place in which the entrepreneur will not only be able to put his feet up in with relish, but also "host his artistic tendencies," as Leo Lei of [Design Milk](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breck-chair) puts it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Modern Beach Houses:** Opportunity for designers to create minimalist and serene spaces that serve as relaxing retreats and encourage residents to unwind. - **Living Space as a Relaxing Getaway:** Opportunity to transform interior spaces into retreats that promote relaxation and offer an escape from everyday life. - **Incorporating Artistic Tendencies in Design:** Opportunity to design living spaces that not only prioritize relaxation but also provide a platform for expressing artistic inclinations. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can explore the trend of modern beach houses and cater to clients seeking relaxing and minimalist living spaces. - **Real Estate:** Real estate developers can capitalize on the demand for modern beach houses, creating properties that provide a serene and refreshing environment. - **Hospitality:** The hospitality industry can incorporate elements of modern beach house design into hotels and resorts, offering guests a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Juxtaposing Minimal Artful Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oceana-retreat.md) - [Modern Architectural Seaside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strandhouse.md) - [Boxy Shaped Beach Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roman-izquierdo-bouldstridge.md) - [Juxtaposing South Californian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emerald-bay.md) - [Minimalist Beach House Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1980s-beach-house.md) - [Nature-Inspired Minimal Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zen-house-1.md) - [Palm Springs-Inspired Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tonal-bliss.md) - [Compact Beach Resort Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siesta-key.md) - [Beach Club-Inspired Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sydney-coastal-home.md)
