# 80-Passenger Elevators Mitsubishi Electric Elevators Are Super-Sized People-Movers By Zoe Badley | Published 2010-05-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mitsubishi-electric-elevators References: [gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/5542334/new-elevators-installed-in-japan-can-take-80-people-sky) & [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/mitsubishi-electric-installs-five-enormous-elevators-holds-80-person-each/15139/picture/114758/) These [Mitsubishi](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mitsubishi-dx-concept1) Electric elevators have recently been installed in Japan and represent the world's largest electric people-movers. Admittedly, I've never been a big fan of elevators. They're tiny, and during peak business hours you're waiting forever just to fit on one. However, I may soon be changing my opinion due to this design. These bad boys can hold up to 80 people and their size is incredible. Basically, you can do somersaults while inside--however, I advise no one to actually try it. Our only hope is that these Mitsubishi Electric elevators were securely installed. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Super-sized Elevators:** There is an opportunity for construction companies and elevator manufacturers to innovate and create elevators that can hold even larger numbers of passengers. - **Vertical Transportation Efficiency:** As the world's population grows more concentrated in cities, there is a growing need for elevators that can transport large numbers of people quickly and efficiently, creating an opportunity for sustainable and efficient vertical transportation solutions. - **Elevator Safety Innovations:** As elevators become larger, there is also a greater need for safety features that can protect large numbers of passengers in the event of a malfunction, creating an opportunity for safety technology manufacturers to innovate and keep passengers safe. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Construction:** The construction industry can take advantage of these super-sized elevators by building taller buildings and offering new vertical transportation options for its customers. - **Elevator Manufacturing:** Elevator manufacturers can innovate to create new elevator designs that can hold even larger numbers of people, creating more efficient vertical transportation solutions. - **Safety Technology:** As elevators become even larger, safety technology manufacturers have an opportunity to innovate and create safety features that can protect large numbers of passengers in the event of an emergency. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modern Glass Home Elevators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-homelift.md) - [Six-Seater Adventure Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mitsubishi-dx-concept1.md) - [Attachable Smart Elevator Interfaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evw-1.md) - [Accessible Space Travel Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-elevator-concept.md) - [Electrified Compact SUVs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allnew-grandis.md) - [High-Stability 3D Metal Printers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/az600.md) - [Gargantuan Electric-Assist Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electricassist-bike.md) - [Turbine-Hauling Wheeled Cranes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wheeledcrane.md) - [Bullet Train-Inspired Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mitsubishi-shinkansen.md)
