# Deceiving Pendant Lights The Mistral Ceiling Fan Both Illuminates and Cools By Meghan Young | Published 2011-05-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mistral-ceiling-fan References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/mistral-ceiling-fan-by-moooi/) & [lumens](http://www.lumens.com/Mistral-Ceiling-Fan-by-Moooi/uu386898/product?siteID=gz3nzGePATc-XIqj1AhWMhUubIeGy01EtQ) I almost wish that the name of the Mistral Ceiling Fan wasn't so literal so no one would guess its true nature. Disguised as a [pendant lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warp-lamp), it actually also functions as a fan. Considering that hot summer days are just around the corner, it might be a good idea to order one of these "lamps" in order to combat the heat in style. Designed by [Moooi](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moooi), the Mistral Ceiling Fan also emits a soft light. However, it is most likely its [five yellow wooden blades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shark-turboblade) that will surely be most appreciated in addition to its contemporary inner chrome finish. Of course, the intricately cut glass diffuser will surely draw some ooo's and ahh's too. Priced at $964.00, it's no wonder that the Mistral Ceiling Fan is dual-purposed. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Dual-purpose Lighting:** The trend of designing lighting fixtures that have additional functionalities, such as fans, to provide multiple benefits in one product. - **Disguised Appliances:** The trend of creating appliances that are designed to look like something else, such as pendant lights that are actually fans, to blend seamlessly with home decor. - **Multi-function Furniture:** The trend of incorporating multiple functionalities into furniture pieces, like the Mistral Ceiling Fan that combines lighting and cooling options in one. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting Design:** The lighting design industry can explore the opportunity to create innovative fixtures that serve dual purposes, attracting customers who value both aesthetics and functionality. - **Home Appliance:** The home appliance industry can tap into the market demand for disguised appliances, offering products that seamlessly blend into home decor while providing additional functionalities. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry has an opportunity to design multi-function furniture pieces that cater to consumers' desire for versatile and space-saving solutions, like the Mistral Ceiling Fan that combines both lighting and cooling functions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Florally-Inspired Ceiling Fans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-ceiling-fan.md) - [Lamp-Equipped Fan Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abode-gale-fan.md) - [Elegant Axis-Mounted Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendulum-lamp.md) - [Smart Ceiling Fan Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fanpro.md) - [Connected Open-Concept Ceiling Fans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atomi-smart-ceiling-fan.md) - [Multipurpose Misting Fans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shark-flex-breeze-fan.md) - [Opulent Air-Amplifying Fans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dyson-cool-cf1.md) - [Mist-Powered Cooling Fans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ego-power-misting-fan.md) - [Two-in-One Rechargeable Desk Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appliance-concept.md)
