# Kaleidoscopic Mirrored Photography Ron Binkmann's Mirrorbox Series is Positively Psychedelic By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-05-16 | Fashion Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mirrorbox References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/ron-brinkmann-mirrorbox) & [flickr](https://www.flickr.com/photos/ronbrinkmann/sets/72157628242004349/detail/) Ron Binkmann's 'MirrorBox' series looks, upon first glance, like a complex digital manipulation. However, each image is taken from the inside of a cube Binkmann constructed using [mirrored tiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mirroring-dialogue) and duct tape. He places objects (such as candles or action figures) inside the box, along with this timed camera, in order to capture their endless reflections without human disruption. Photos taken within the mirror box produce an exhilarating, [kaleidoscopic effect](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ripples-collection) that will blow your mind. The symmetrical lines, angles and geometric shapes created within appear to be almost infinite. The wonderful thing about Binkmann's series is the fact that it's so simple to recreate. If you have the time and inclination, you too could create a mirror box and experiment with the seemingly endless reflections it produces. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/fashion) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/stylephotography) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Psychedelic Photography:** The Mirrorbox series showcases the potential for psychedelic photography through the use of kaleidoscopic mirror effects. - **DIY Mirror Box:** The simplicity of recreating the mirror box opens up opportunities for DIY enthusiasts to explore kaleidoscopic photography. - **Endless Reflections:** The endless reflections captured within the mirror box create mesmerizing symmetrical patterns and geometric shapes. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Visual Entertainment:** The mirror box photography trend presents new artistic possibilities for photographers, digital artists, and visual entertainment industries. - **DIY and Craft:** The DIY mirror box trend offers opportunities for crafters and DIY enthusiasts to create unique kaleidoscopic photography experiences. - **Interior Design and Decor:** The mesmerizing reflections produced by mirror box photography can inspire innovative interior design elements and decorative applications. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Reflective Kaleidoscope-Inspired Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kalegoidoscope.md) - [Dynamic Structural Mirror Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zigzag-collection.md) - [Emotional Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection.md) - [Colorful Retro Pixel Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-mirror.md) - [Sophisticated Copper Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manu-ba.md) - [Geometric Sculpture Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-box.md) - [Travel-Themed Fractured Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baggage-claim-mirrors.md) - [Suspended Mirrored Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mirror-collection-1.md) - [Artful Custom Mirror Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portraits-collection.md)
