# Lovely Three-Legged Illuminators Mio. Light Has a Quirky Third Appendage for an Animated Appeal By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-10-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mio-light References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2013/10/mio-light.html) & [fredericjulian.de](http://www.fredericjulian.de/) The Mio. Light is like a little alien amidst your other light fixtures; it differs greatly from the conventional form of the [table lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juba-tl1-table-lamp) and it embodies some unusual physical traits. The designer worked to create an illuminating object that would better engage its human user; this was done, more or less, by giving it a head and limbs. Frederic Julian Rätsch is most concerned with dreaming up new and unique objects that consumers are either going to connect with or not. There is an adorable quality about this flat-faced fixture with its [whimsical tripod base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-lebow-table-lamp) that somehow appears more alive than your typical lampshaded source. The Mio. Light comes in a charming pale mint color and offers a [soft diffuse glow](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Quirky Illuminators:** Opportunity for designers to create new and unique lighting objects with playful and unexpected features - **Animated Lighting Fixtures:** Innovative designs that give light fixtures a personality, making them more engaging and interactive - **Whimsical Lighting:** Trend towards lighting objects that have a charming and playful quality, adding character to interior design ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for designers to create lighting fixtures that are both functional and add personality and charm to a space - **Product Design:** Designers can explore unique shapes, forms and features to bring innovation to lighting fixtures - **Home Decor:** Whimsical lighting objects can provide homeowners with unique and playful decor accents that can set the tone for a space ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Conical Multifunctional Lamp Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-light.md) - [Adjustable Sculptural Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Mysterious Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auge-light-mini.md) - [Character-Like Wireless Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puddy-table-lamp.md) - [Quirky Common Item Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-lamp-lighter.md) - [Malleable Connected Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pofu-lamp.md) - [Bold Playful Lighting Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-lebow-table-lamp.md) - [Retro-Tinged Compact Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lari-mini.md)
