# Decorative Mining Lamps These Wonderful Wooden Lamps Mimic Old Mining Equipment By Ady Floyd | Published 2015-05-21 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mining-lamps References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/lights-inspired-wood-houses-mining-lamps/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter) & [crowdyhouse](http://www.crowdyhouse.com/shop/zuid-oak-wood-lamp/) Designer Françoise Oostwegel designed the Zuid Oak Wood Lamp to resemble old-school mining lamps. The lamps take the form of a 3D octagon that has had each face removed leaving only the connecting edges. The edges are made using copper and oak wood and have a handle on the top to solidify the mining lamp inspiration. By adding the copper wire it creates a warm, reflective glow when turned on. The mining lamps are available in different sizes and can be used as a handheld light, a floor or table lamp and can be hung from the ceiling as a chandelier. Every aspect of the lamp including the color, material and shape tell a story about The Netherlands, which is where the inspiration originated. The simple design makes an appropriate decor piece but the mining lamps are also very practical and conveniently transportable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Eco Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/ecoarchitecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Decorative Lighting:** There is an opportunity for innovative designs that combine decor and lighting to create unique pieces like the Zuid Oak Wood Lamp. - **Heritage-inspired Design:** Mining lamps provide inspiration for heritage-inspired designs and products that celebrate local history and industry. - **Multi-functional Decor:** The Zuid Oak Wood Lamp highlights the potential for furniture and decor pieces that can be easily adapted and customized for different use cases. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** There is immense potential for innovative and multifunctional decor pieces that can fit in different spaces and serve different purposes. - **Lighting:** The Zuid Oak Wood Lamp illustrates the potential for combining traditional materials and designs with modern lighting methods for a unique end product. - **Heritage Tourism:** Mining lamps and equipment can inspire heritage tourism destinations and experiences, showcasing the history of local industries and creating immersive environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Design-Focused Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-soul.md) - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md) - [Pine Wood-Inspired Minimal Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jakobsson.md) - [Retro-Tinged Compact Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lari-mini.md) - [Portable Cubic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/romb-mini-lamp.md) - [Raw Minimalist Pine Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoop-table-lamp.md) - [Wooden Sustainable Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Wooden Warm Light Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modernism-lighting.md)
