# Rugged Minimalist Tiny Homes IIM Interior's Micro Dwelling Boasts an Exterior of Corten Steel By Kalin Ned | Published 2019-02-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-tiny-home References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2019/02/05/im-interior-garage-corten-micro-home-vilnus/) IM Interior turns a garage in Lithuania into a functional, welcoming and minimalist tiny home. The structure is located on a corner, "located in the medieval old town of the [...] capital." The [compact dwelling](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stealth-house) is meant for a single-occupant, it boasts 21 square meters area-wise and is intended to showcase "how little a person needs." Going against materialistic currents, IM Interior's [micro house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nano-micro-house) is quite adorable. The aesthetic is raw, attention-captivating and maintains an aged look as the design firm clads the structure in Corten steel — a weathered material with a rich presence. The inside, however, juxtaposes itself with the atmosphere that the exterior communicates. The minimalist tiny home features a homey, contemporary interior that is cozy and inviting. Narrow picture windows connect the inside with the outside environment. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Rugged Minimalism:** Creating minimalist designs that embrace raw and weathered materials, like Corten steel. - **Tiny Home Living:** Designing compact and functional living spaces that prioritize simplicity and minimalism. - **Urban Revitalization:** Transforming unused spaces, such as garages, into stylish and livable micro dwellings. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture and Design:** Exploring innovative ways to create minimalist and rugged designs for tiny homes and micro dwellings. - **Real Estate:** Meeting the growing demand for small and affordable housing options through the development of functional and aesthetically appealing tiny homes. - **Steel Manufacturing:** Providing weathered materials like Corten steel to meet the demand for raw and rugged design aesthetics in architecture and construction. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Reinvented Compact Living](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/affordable-housing-prototype.md) - [Nature-Surrounded Miniature Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mini.md) - [Minimal Mountain Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caju-house.md) - [Compact Urban Dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miami-tiny-house.md) - [Compact Cottage Revivals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rustic-renovation.md) - [Stacked Compact Compact Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabini-edelweiss.md) - [Space-Conscious Compact Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/midgard-tiny-home.md) - [Triple Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modhouse-tiny-home.md) - [Ultra-Efficient Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hirondelle-tiny-house.md)
