The simple design of the residential structure balances perfectly between masculine and feminine for a home that is perfect for just about anyone. While the outside is dark and slightly imposing with its metal-like material and subtly cantilevered design, the inside is all serene and warm thanks to white walls and a predominance of birch wood throughout. The minimalist modern house was designed by Coelacanth and Associates. It is located in [Shibuya, Tokyo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/residential-project-in-tokyo). With a ton of natural lighting seeping through [floor-to-ceiling windows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portland-house-renovation), the minimalist modern house nevertheless has sweeping curtains, which can be drawn when needed since it resides in a very high-density area. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Minimalist Modern Houses:** Opportunity for innovative designs that balance masculinity and femininity. - **Subtly Cantilevered Designs:** Potential for creating visually striking and structurally unique buildings. - **Sweeping Curtains:** Possibility for innovative window treatments that offer privacy while maintaining natural lighting. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Opportunity for architects to create minimalist modern house designs. - **Interior Design:** Potential for interior designers to use birch wood and white walls to create serene and warm spaces. - **Window Treatment:** Opportunity for companies to develop innovative curtains that can be drawn when needed to provide privacy. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimal Japanese Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-kyobate.md) - [Lofty Minimalist Living Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-living-space1.md) - [Refined Modern Dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-house.md) - [Compact White-Painted Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whitepainted-modern-home.md) - [Nature-Inspired Minimal Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zen-house-1.md) - [Minimal Philosophy Toronto Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-hill-residence.md) - [Minimal Mid-Century Hollywood Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mulholland.md) - [Modern Architectural Seaside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strandhouse.md) - [Hilltop Modern Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cloud-house.md)
