# Serene Hotel Structures This Minimalist Hotel Encourages Complete Rest and Relaxation By Jana Pijak | Published 2015-09-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-hotel References: [lanciatrendvisions](http://www.lanciatrendvisions.com/en/article/hotel-sala-ayutthaya-where-ancient-and-modern-thailand-meet) & [maynardarchitects](http://maynardarchitects.com) This minimalist hotel project by [Maya Architects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-maya) encourages rest, relaxation and personal reflection. The renovated [Hotel Sala Ayutthaya](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/further-hotel) is located in the heart of Thailand and marries together contemporary and rustic design detail. Despite of its modernist design style, this building is also surrounded by brick-constructed partitions that resemble ancient ruin walls. In addition to its stark white facade -- that is complemented with white marble, tiles and a linear pool set-up -- this structure is also home to [layered brick spa and reception facilities](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inns-of-aurora). A use of bricks and natural wood can also be seen in the hotel's luxe rooms that marry traditional and modern design details. Maya Architects' minimalist hotel project is also a simple take on luxury, choosing to make a statement with bare details rather than ornamentation. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist-design Hotels:** The trend of minimalist-design hotels presents an opportunity for businesses to create serene and relaxing spaces that prioritize rest and reflection. - **Integration of Ancient and Modern Elements:** The trend of integrating ancient and modern design elements in hotel structures offers the opportunity to create unique and visually striking environments that appeal to guests seeking a blend of history and contemporary aesthetics. - **Natural Material Features:** The trend of incorporating natural materials, such as brick and wood, in hotel design presents opportunities for businesses to create eco-conscious and inviting spaces that evoke a sense of warmth and tranquility. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Hospitality:** The hospitality industry can leverage the trend of minimalist-design hotels to create innovative, restful, and memorable guest experiences. - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can explore the trend of integrating ancient and modern elements in hotel structures to create disruptive and visually captivating architectural designs that challenge traditional concepts. - **Eco-friendly Materials and Sustainability:** The eco-friendly materials industry can benefit from the trend of incorporating natural materials in hotel design by providing sustainable solutions that align with the growing demand for environmentally conscious spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tranquil Island Wellness Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sanya-wellness-retreat.md) - [Modern Traditional Japanese Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shinmozen.md) - [Terracotta-Wrapped Village Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/further-hotel.md) - [Sculptural Concrete Hotel Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleeping-lab.md) - [Minimal Timber Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zenhouse.md) - [Serene Heartwarming Villa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-minimale.md) - [Tranquil Secluded Retreat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-brecon.md) - [Dynamic Mexican Suite Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paradero.md) - [Tranquil Contemporary Cabin Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyatta.md)
