# Sci-Fi Spaceship Coffee Tables The Millennium Falcon Coffee Table is a Geeky Man Cave Essential By Michael Hines | Published 2011-06-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/millennium-falcon-coffee-table References: [walyou](http://walyou.com/millennium-falcon-table/) & [tinyurl](http://tinyurl.com/3zngotd) John and James M are the two brothers (geniuses) behind R-9, a design group that creates [functional sci-fi art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buildabridge-mini-bridge) such as the Millennium Falcon coffee table. The Millennium Falcon coffee table measures 42-inches long and features a recreation of the famed ship piloted by Han Solo and Chewbacca. The Millennium Falcon coffee table isn't exactly built solely around the ship, it actually features a model of the ship with a pane of glass over it. Still, the table is impressive and would definitely be a conversation piece. I am a fan of all kinds of [Star Wars art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-collection-2), but functional art like this truly is where it's at. You can check out a few images of the table here, along with a bunch of other designs inspired by Han's famous spaceship. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Functional Sci-fi Art:** The rise of functional sci-fi art presents opportunities for artists and designers to create unique and practical pieces inspired by popular culture. - **Geeky Home Decor:** The demand for geeky home decor items like the Millennium Falcon coffee table opens up opportunities for retailers to cater to the growing market of pop culture enthusiasts. - **Conversation Piece Furniture:** There is a rising trend for conversation piece furniture like the Millennium Falcon coffee table, presenting opportunities for furniture manufacturers to create unique and eye-catching designs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can tap into the trend of functional sci-fi art by creating innovative and practical pieces inspired by popular science fiction. - **Retail:** Specialty retailers can capitalize on the demand for geeky home decor by offering a range of unique and exclusive items targeting pop culture enthusiasts. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can take advantage of the trend for conversation piece furniture by designing and producing eye-catching and innovative pieces that double as artwork. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Maximalist UFO Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-saucer-coffee-table.md) - [Aircraft Door Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-exit-door-table.md) - [Supercar Engine Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/engine-block-coffee-table.md) - [Sci-Fi Spacecraft LEGO Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scifi-spacecraft-lego-set.md) - [Galactic Cafe Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Star-wars-themed-cafe.md) - [Sci-Fi Gaming Mice](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/millennium-falcon-edition.md) - [Sci Fi-Inspired Desk Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightsaber-lego.md) - [Sci-Fi Film-Inspired Gaming Mouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/g502-x-plus-millennium-falcon-edition.md) - [Board Game Furniture Innovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bandpass-design.md)
