# Thumbdrive Mix Tapes The Milktape USB Cassette is the Modern Way to Share Audio Compilations By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-03-12 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/milktape-usb-cassette References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/milktape-makes-modern-day-mixtapes/) & [milktape](http://www.milktape.com/) Ah, the mixtape. Have you missed it? The Milktape USB Cassette is a revival of the old practice of compiling tracks from the radio, other tapes and later from CDs; however, this product enables you to organize music easily and efficiently and straight from your computer. Harkening back to the 1990s, the device has been manufactured to resemble the plastic cartridges that were made with a pair of wheels and a delicate wound ribbon inside. While you won't find these components in this version, you will discover a [pull-out flash drive](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandisk-1) that treats the [familiar piece of plastic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floppy-disk-inspired-sd-card) as an oversized cover. The low capacity of the Milktape USB cassette tape encourages you to edit your songs down to about 15, similar to the number you'll find on your old [mix tapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowsky-retro). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Revival of Mixtapes:** The Milktape USB Cassette revives the trend of creating personalized mixtapes. - **Efficient Music Organization:** The Milktape USB Cassette allows for easy and efficient organization of music. - **Nostalgic Retro Designs:** The Milktape USB Cassette capitalizes on the trend of nostalgic retro designs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Music Technology:** The music technology industry can explore opportunities to create innovative products that merge old and new ways of sharing music. - **Fashion and Accessories:** The fashion and accessories industry can incorporate nostalgic retro designs into their product lines. - **Digital Storage:** The digital storage industry can develop innovative ways to package and present digital content in a nostalgic manner. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nostalgic Compact Clear Cassettes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cp81.md) - [Cassette-Inspired Music Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-audio-player.md) - [Modernized Mobile Cassette Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maxell-mxcpp100.md) - [Nostalgic Audio Interfaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cassetteone.md) - [Modernized Cassette Player Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-cassette-tape-player.md) - [Minimalist Wireless Cassette Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/we-are-rewind-cassette-player.md) - [Modernized Boomboxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/we-are-rewind.md) - [Cassette-Style Smartphone Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remax-powerbank-tape.md) - [Modernized Cassette Tape Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fiio-cp13.md)
