# Tree-Tied Avian Abodes The Mikko Birdhouse and Feeder by Pygmalion Studio is Minimalist and Modern By Meghan Young | Published 2014-03-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mikko-birdhouse-and-feeder References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/mikko-birdhouses-fedders-pygmalion-studio/) & [pygmalionstudio.fr](http://www.pygmalionstudio.fr/) The Mikko Birdhouse and Feeder is a convenient avian abode that can be secure around any tree. In place of hanging the birdhouse, which is a more traditional approach, this alternative allows people to essentially tie it around tree trunks for a firmer hold as well as a chicer appearance. Although boasting an overall minimalist appearance, the elastic strap provides a nice bit of texture. Designed by Pygmalion Studio, which is founded by Amandine Peyresoubes and Nack Petiot, the Mikko Birdhouse and Feeder is made out of [ceramic and wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kumiki-architects). Staying put for as long as a person wants, the elastic strap expands as the tree grows. It is available in two styles: one with a small mouth and one with a bigger opening. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Avian Abodes:** Opportunity to create modern, aesthetically pleasing birdhouses with minimalist designs that can be securely fastened around trees. - **Flexible Elastic Strap Technology:** Opportunity to develop and use elastic straps that expand with tree growth for the secure attachment of various outdoor products. - **Alternative Outdoor Decor Solutions:** Opportunity to pioneer the development of alternative, stylish outdoor decor solutions for both functional and aesthetic purposes. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home and Garden:** Design and create products for modern, minimalist outdoor living spaces that cater to a growing trend of environmentally friendly design. - **Outdoor Retail:** Sell and market outdoor decor solutions that are modern, sleek, and able to be secured around trees for an innovative, stylish alternative to traditional outdoor decor. - **Ceramics and Woodworking:** Capitalizing on a growing trend for eco-friendly and minimalist design, develop and manufacture new products for outdoor use using ceramics and sustainable wood sources. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Educational Linoleum Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elvi-birdhouse.md) - [Sustainable Bird House Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-bird.md) - [Home Exterior Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/numbird.md) - [Modernism Birdhouse Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project.md) - [Birdhouse-Integrated Address Signs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/our-common-house.md) - [Highly Functional Bird Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-bird.md) - [Dual-Camera Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birdfy-nest.md) - [Elevated Treetop Modern Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buitenverblijf-nest.md) - [Nature-Shared A-Frame Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kumiki-architects.md)
