This [steampunk cake](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cake) from Mike’s Wedding Cakes in Seattle, although it may not look it, is 100% edible. Mixing vintage with the future, the cake was created for Liz Spain and Austin Lamb’s wedding, and features metallic gears, doors, rivets, and panels made of fondant. Even though it looks as if taking a bite would give you a mouth full of metal, it apparently tastes pretty good, according to [exoskeletoncabaret](http://www.flickr.com/photos/exoskeletoncabaret/) on her Flickr photostream. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 92% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Steampunk Wedding Cakes:** Opportunity for bakeries to create unique steampunk-themed wedding cakes that are visually stunning and edible. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Bakery:** Bakeries can take advantage of the growing demand for unique and customized wedding cakes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Steampunk Aesthetic Espresso Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steampunk-espresso-machine.md) - [Cardboard-Resembling Illusion Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-cake.md) - [Balloon Dog Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balloon-dog-cake.md) - [Design-Centric Dynamic Artful Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artful-cake.md) - [Lobster Roll Wedding Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lobster-roll-wedding-cakes.md) - [Cheese Wheel Wedding Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowshill-cheese-wedding-cake.md) - [Multilayer Canned Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canned-cake.md) - [Elegant Cake Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flourless-dark-chocolate.md) - [Wedding Pizza Promotions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pizza-hut-6.md)
