Clearly, these images were created in Photoshop. The Mike Guppy Selected animated gif series replaces these iconic main characters, such as Mona Lisa, with marching ant outlines. In fact, his Mona Lisa art piece was inspired by Mike Ruiz’s Replaced Mona Lisa, who actually did select and remove her from her painting. At least Guppy left a ghost trace of her poised presence, as he did with all the other artwork he altered. A clever and creative project, the Mike Guppy Selected series introduces a fresh take on animated gif artistic works. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Cropped Iconic Artwork:** Opportunity for artists to create new forms of expression by digitally altering famous paintings. - **Digital Outline Replacement:** Innovative technique of using marching ant outlines to replace main characters in artwork, creating unique visuals. - **Animated GIF Art:** Emerging trend of creating animated GIF artwork, combining traditional paintings with digital elements. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can embrace the trend of digitally altering famous artwork to create new and unique pieces. - **Digital Art:** Digital artists can experiment with the technique of using marching ant outlines to replace characters in their artworks, offering a different perspective. - **Tech and Animation:** The tech and animation industry can explore the rising trend of creating animated GIF artwork by blending traditional paintings with digital effects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Traveling Fine Art Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/get-out-there.md) - [Reimagined Puzzled Artful Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portrait-of-a-woman-in-a-hat.md) - [Art-Inspired Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mattel-x-moma.md) - [Reimagined Impressionist Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impressionist-paintings.md) - [Immersive Fine Art Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-joconde.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Painting Display Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pointillism.md) - [AI-Generated Soup Can Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/campbells-paintings.md) - [Collectible Historical Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thrilljoy-pix.md)
