His project, entitled A Period of Juvenile Prosperity, is an [artistic outcome](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/still-life-1) of his adventure-seeking personality and artistic abilities. The Arizona-based photographer started taking [Polaroid](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaroid-x-thrasher) photographs in 2004 when we found a camera at the back of his friend's car seat. He traveled across 50,000 miles through 46 states and documented the lives of the very far-fetched and enclave train-hopping community. The project features the unknown faces of train intruders all over the United States. Mike Brodie does a phenomenal job documenting their nonchalant interactions sitting on top the rapidly moving train, the care-free resting periods as well as the unfortunate times of their journeys, such as when the train-hoppers get sick with no way of access to any medical help. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Exploratory Photography:** There is a trend of photographers like Mike Brodie who are venturing off the beaten path to capture unique and untold stories through their lens. - **Alternative Lifestyles:** The documentary-style portrayal of the train-hopping community by Mike Brodie highlights the trend of individuals opting for non-conventional lifestyles and finding their sense of belonging in unconventional communities. - **Creative Travel Documentation:** The artistic project by Mike Brodie showcases the trend of creative documentation of travel experiences, going beyond typical tourist photography. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Photography:** Photography industry can benefit from disruptive innovation by exploring and promoting alternative and exploratory photography styles. - **Adventure Tourism:** The adventure tourism industry can tap into the trend of highlighting alternative lifestyles and non-conventional travel experiences to attract a new demographic of travelers. - **Pharmaceuticals:** The pharmaceutical industry can identify disruptive innovation opportunities by addressing the healthcare needs of individuals living alternative lifestyles, like the train-hopping community. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Public Art Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-anthony-smith.md) - [Skateboard-Themed Photography Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rabbit-hole-1.md) - [British Youth-Culture Photography Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-and-away.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Skate Photography Collaboration](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaroid-x-thrasher.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Miniature Artful Hip-Hop Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/danny-cortes.md) - [Hipster Era Photography Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cobrasnake-y2ks-archive.md) - [Polaroid-Inspired Poetry Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poetroid.md)
