# Skeletal Canines These Dogs by Mikael Alacoque Would Make an Unusual Pet By Matt Ho | Published 2011-01-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mikael-alacoque References: [lostateminor](http://www.lostateminor.com/2009/05/22/mikael-alacoque/) & [alacoque.iamnick](http://www.alacoque.iamnick.com/works.htm) Small dogs are usually cute and cuddly, but the talented Mikael Alacoque has made them terrifying and unsettling in these featured works. Mikael Alacoque's [sculptural series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog) entitled 'Bad Babysitter' features a dog with a skull for a head and the body of a [tiny canine](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miniverse-make-it-mini-animals). If that isn't strange enough, the dog is colored bright fluorescent blue and pink and has [ice cream cones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-alchemist-by-jdo) stuck on the top of its head. Check out this unusual canine in the gallery and try not to imagine it as a pet. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 65% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Unconventional Pet Trends:** Exploring unorthodox pet options and their potential market opportunities. - **Dark Artistry Trends:** Focusing on unconventional art mediums and their potential impact on the art industry. - **Sculptural Innovation Trends:** Investigating innovative sculptural techniques and their potential for disrupting art forms. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Pet Industry:** Exploring nontraditional pet options in the pet industry. - **Art Industry:** Investigating art as an unconventional and disruptive art form. - **Sculpture Industry:** Exploring innovative sculptural techniques and their potential for disrupting traditional sculpture methods. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Pet-Inspired Decor Items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-pets.md) - [Rollable Bell-Shaped Dog Kennels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poochchair.md) - [Artful Doghouse Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-for-dogs-exhibition.md) - [Anthropomorphized Pet Products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-bowl-table.md) - [Spooky Charming Pet Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crown-paw.md) - [Minimalist Pet Decor Products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-pet-furniture-collection.md) - [Minimal Sustainable Pet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biting-edge.md) - [Curvaceous Abstract Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-table.md) - [Aesthetic-Driven Dog Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karim-rashid-for-ubbi.md)
