# Gamers as Forensic Artists Nintendo Wii Console Used to Create Mii for Wanted Poster in Japan By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2009-02-04 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mii-sketch-artist References: [autoblog](http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/04/mii-sought-in-japanese-hit-and-run/) & [dannychoo](http://www.dannychoo.com/detail/mac/eng/image/13941/Police%20use%20Mii.html) Avid gamers can add one more possible career path to their collection: Forensic sketch artist. This wanted poster for a hit-and-run driver above features a [Mii](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-avatar1) created on [Nintendo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/protohologram) [Wii's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/epic-mickey-rebrushed) Mii creator instead of a traditional hand-drawn or computer-aided sketch. The Mii creator lets gamers create a digital avatar using the Wii interface. While the basic details are conveyed--like the suspect's glasses, angled face and long hair--I have a sinking feeling this type of forensic sketch will only grow in popularity despite its apparent uselessness for crime-fighting. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 74% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [AI](https://www.trendhunter.com/ai) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Digital Avatars in Forensic Sketching:** The use of digital avatars, such as those created with the Nintendo Wii's Mii creator, for forensic sketching could disrupt traditional methods in the field. - **Gamification of Forensic Artistry:** The integration of gaming technologies, like the Wii interface, into forensic artistry may offer new opportunities for engagement and skill development. - **Increasing Popularity of Non-traditional Forensic Techniques:** Despite their perceived uselessness for crime-fighting, non-traditional forensic techniques like using digital avatars are gaining popularity and could lead to breakthroughs in the field. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Gaming Hardware and Software:** Gaming hardware and software companies, like Nintendo, could explore the potential of their technologies in the field of forensic artistry and develop specialized tools for digital sketching. - **Law Enforcement and Investigation:** Law enforcement agencies and investigative organizations may need to adapt to the emergence of non-traditional forensic techniques and incorporate training for digital avatar-based sketching into their programs. - **Education and Training:** Educational institutions and training centers could incorporate gaming technologies and digital avatar-based sketching into their curriculum to prepare future forensic artists for the evolving industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Facial Movement Game Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gameface.md) - [AI Avatar Creation Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-avatar1.md) - [Fantasy Roleplay AI Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dd-character-portraits.md) - [AI-Supporting Art Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electronics-hub-art.md) - [Haunting Gaming Adventures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hauntii-xbox-game.md) - [Holographic Video Game Characters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/protohologram.md) - [AI Drawing Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sketch-it.md) - [Game Style Navigation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/need-for-speed-mini-map.md) - [Personalized Artful Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nak-studio.md)
