The guitar features a skeletal construction that is devoid of knobs, controllers and strings in favor of an alternative control system. This consists of [nickel-plated brass plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/voltage-davinci) that, when touched, will activate different nodes without having to apply necessary pressure. Players can also bridge two adjacent plates together before touching the string-inspired section on the waist for an effect. The conceptual 'Ni28' MIDI guitar maintains a range of advantages over [conventional electric guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shark-guitars) like requiring less pressure to activate the plates versus the frets, not requiring muscle memory and much more. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 12% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Musical Instruments:** Designing musical instruments with minimalist structures for a simpler and powerful alternative. - **Non-traditional Guitar Control Systems:** Creating alternative control systems for guitars that do not require traditional knobs or strings. - **Touch-activated Sound Nodes:** Incorporating touch-activated sound nodes in musical instrument designs. ### Where This Applies - **Musical Instruments Manufacturing:** Exploring and investing in the research and development of minimalist musical instruments. - **Technology:** Incorporating technology into the development of non-traditional guitar control systems. - **Sound and Music Production:** Developing software and hardware to enable touch-activated sound nodes in musical instruments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Futuristic Abstract Musical Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zeta-electric-guitar.md) - [Ultra-Modern MIDI Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/midi-device.md) - [Headstock-Topped MIDI Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/midi-guitars.md) - [Electronic String Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harmoni.md) - [Portable Music Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-midi-controller.md) - [Braille-Covered Electric Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vitar-guitar.md) - [AI-Powered Guitar Pick Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piek.md) - [Minimalist Instrument-Holding Amplifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breeze-guitar-amp.md) - [Contactless Electromagnetic Guitar Picks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kinetic-remote-control-guitar-pick.md)
