Japanese artist Tatsuo Horiuchi creates beautiful [landscape paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition) using [Microsoft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ms-paint-1) Excel (so much for photoshop.) Though this isn’t even remotely close to the primary function of the Excel program, Horiuchi decided to use it rather than buy an expensive graphic design program. The result of his Excel art project was remarkably beautiful.

These stunning Microsoft paintings feature cherry blossom trees, humming birds and oriental lilies. Each of these paintings is vibrantly colored and focuses on the beauty in nature. With sunny yellow skies and rich green grass, these stunning photos grab the viewer’s attention.

Tatsuo got the idea to use Microsoft Excel after seeing others use it to create small graphics. Since then, he’s clearly optimized on the program. These lively scenic paintings are proof that if you know your way around Excel, it can be an invaluable art tool.
